Description

Viral Transport Medium kit is used to collect and transport clinical specimens containing viruses from the collection site to the testing laboratory. It is a ready to use swab kit, designed to maintain viral viability and transport viruses in active form for isolation. The kit comprises of one sterile oropharyngeal swab, one sterile nasopharyngeal swab and one tube of Chimera Viral Transport Medium (CVTM). The CVTM contains essential buffers and antibiotics required for maintaining the viability of the viruses during transport. The medium is recommended by Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and World Health Organization (WHO) for the collection and transport of Coronavirus. The Nylon Flocked Swab contains short perpendicular nylon fiber strands attached to a flexible molded plastic shaft that results in efficient collection and release of viral specimen. The flocked swab yields more sample which helps to maximize sensitivity of cell cultures and molecular technique assays. The flexible plastic shaft ensures better patient comfort. Each swab has a molded breakpoint which allows the swab to be broken in to the tube. The peculiar design of the swab ensures optimal elution of the specimen into the transport medium.
