Description

Ankylosing Spondylitis is a form of arthritis that affects the spine. It is characterized by stiffness and pain from the lower back to the neck. The vertebrae (spinal cord) fuse together resulting in a rigid bone. Early treatment and diagnosis helps to control stiffness and pain. It can also prevent or reduce significant morbidity. Ankylosing spondylitis can cause symptoms such as pain, stiffness, bone fusion and pain in the tendons and ligaments. Yet such symptoms are not limited to the joints.
