Electrical panels are critical components in industrial, commercial, and utility installations. They are also high-risk ignition sources due to constant power flow, heat generation, and potential for short circuits. Conventional water-based fire suppression is unsuitable because water is conductive and can cause extensive damage. Gas-based fire suppression systems offer non-conductive, residue-free, and rapid fire extinguishing capabilities, ensuring minimal downtime and equipment protection. The system is designed to detect and extinguish fires inside electrical control panels at an early stage, using clean or inert gaseous agents that do not harm electrical components or leave residue. Detection & Suppression Methods a. Detection Linear Heat Sensing (LHS) Cable – Detects heat build-up along cable routes. Pneumatic Heat Detection Tubing – Detects and discharges directly from ruptured point. VESDA / Aspirating Smoke Detection – Early warning for sensitive applications. Spot-type Heat or Smoke Detectors – For larger enclosures. b. Suppression Clean Agents: FK-5-1-12 (Novec™ 1230), HFC-227ea (FM-200®) – Fast action, zero residue, non-conductive. Inert Gases: IG-541, IG-55, IG-100 – Non-reactive, safe for equipment, oxygen reduction principle. CO2 (Enclosed Cabinets only) – Effective but not for normally occupied spaces.
